...Is OBM veteran Ryan Larkin still making new film?
The Cinémathèque québécoise, in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada, is organizing an evening dedicated to the memory of Ryan Larkin, the great NFB filmmaker who died in February.
Join us as we mark the talent of this unique artist with screenings of his and other filmmakers' works, and tributes from colleagues and friends.

For well over a decade, a regular in front of Schwartz`s Delicatessen, Larkin was forced into almost total ignominy by bully panhandlers who constantly harrassed him and usurped his coveted spot. As he sat in exile across the street, he began to conceive his next film project. He called it "Spare Change". And thanks to Laurie Gordon who looked after him to the very end, that film will be seen, posthumously for Ryan, on the silver screen. Rollout of the "DONATE DIRECT!" campaign hit the streets on December 18/06 (Back on your Feet). This initial phase of the direct-assistance program for the benefit of homeless and street people shadowed those ubiquitous Sally Ann bell-ringers during the holiday season offering the donating public a local and direct alternative to giving money to big business and mega-charities.
